The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) is conducting a six-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) program from August 19 to 24, 2024, aimed at Ayush teachers, doctors, and scientists. The program is designed to enhance and upgrade participants' academic and therapeutic expertise in Yoga, integrating philosophical, scientific, and practical dimensions.

Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director of MDNIY, emphasized the program's importance, noting, "This initiative, sponsored by the Ministry of Ayush and supported by Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, seeks to strengthen the capacity of Ayush doctors to incorporate Yoga into their standard medical practices." He further highlighted that the CME program is specifically designed to provide Ayush practitioners with evidence-based knowledge, enabling the seamless integration of Yoga into their day-to-day practice.

During the inaugural session, Dr. K.K. Deepak, visiting Professor at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering (CBME), described the program as a vital platform for "Upskilling in Yoga and Allied Sciences." He stressed the importance of proper research methodologies in scientifically validating the impact of Yoga on human life, drawing comparisons with standardized research protocols in allopathic sciences. Dr. Deepak acknowledged the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Ayush, particularly through initiatives like the Ayurgyan scheme, to enhance research methodologies in Yogic sciences.

The program offers a blend of traditional Yoga principles with the latest research insights, covering topics such as Prop Yoga, Modulated Yoga Forms, Practical Demonstrations, Diet and Yoga, and the integration of Ayurveda and Yoga. Thirty selected participants from across the country will benefit from sessions led by leading experts in Yoga research, deepening their understanding of key areas in Yoga and advancing their knowledge across both traditional and contemporary scientific frameworks.
