The Patna District Administration has taken stringent action by shutting down 124 coaching centres in the state capital due to their ineligibility for registration. This move came after an exhaustive review of 138 applications, out of which 14 were found non-functional and 124 were deemed ineligible, according to Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh.
The crackdown was initiated following the tragic death of three civil service aspirants at a Delhi coaching institute. The district administration started a rigorous inspection drive to verify the documentation of all coaching centres. Owners of unregistered centres were mandated to obtain proper registration.
The closure orders were finalized in a recent meeting chaired by the DM and are based on the Bihar Coaching Institute (Control and Regulation) Act, 2010. Inspections revealed many centres lacked essential infrastructure and were overcrowded, leading officials to enforce strict regulations mandating one square metre per student and proper no-objection certificates.
