The CBI has apprehended two suspects, including a main accused, in the NEET-UG paper leak case originating from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Among the arrested is Pankaj Kumar, a 2017-batch civil engineer, who is accused of stealing the NEET-UG paper from a National Testing Agency trunk. Arrested from Patna, Kumar is a resident of Bokaro. The second suspect, Raju Singh, who allegedly aided Kumar, was detained in Hazaribagh.

These arrests bring the total number of those detained in related irregularities to 14. The CBI's ongoing investigation involves six FIRs from Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, focusing on paper leakage, impersonation, and cheating in the medical entrance exam.

NEET-UG, conducted by the NTA for admissions to various medical and allied courses, was held on May 5 across 4,750 centers and witnessed over 23 lakh candidates.
