Assam's Jal Doot Programme Goes National Under CBSE

The Assam government's 'Jal Doot' programme, which acknowledges the crucial role of students in water conservation efforts, is set to be implemented in all Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools across India, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday.
Taking to the social media platform X, Sarma shared a CBSE circular regarding this development. He remarked, 'Another novel #Assampolicy initiative gets more eyeballs and followers! CBSE has directed all its schools to implement 'Jal Doot', the brainchild of the Assam Govt. This practical programme weaves students into community efforts for water conservation.'
Under the broader 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain' campaign led by the central government, the Jal Doot programme emphasizes rainwater harvesting, water conservation, intensive afforestation, and related activities. The CBSE circular noted that this nationwide movement could significantly boost India's sustainable water usage, environmental conservation, climate resilience, and integrate young minds into a mass movement for fresh ideas and youthful energy.
