Amit Shah Highlights NEP 2020 with Launch of 30 Smart Schools in Ahmedabad

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Shri Amit Shah urged everyone to express their gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for paving the way for global welfare through yoga.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, today e-inaugurated 30 smart schools in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.

In his speech, Shri Amit Shah highlighted that these 30 smart schools were developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal School Board at a cost of Rs 36 crore under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, initiated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He detailed that the schools are distributed as follows: 9 in Ghatlodiya, 10 in Vejalpur, 4 in Naranpura, and 7 in Sabarmati. The inauguration of these schools is expected to benefit over 10,000 children, spreading the light of knowledge and education in their lives.

Shri Shah also noted that out of the total 69 schools in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, 59 have already been upgraded to smart schools, with plans to upgrade the remaining schools soon. These smart schools incorporate skill development, vocational training, digital empowerment, advanced mathematics practice, science laboratories, future classrooms, 3-D educational tools, and elements of Indian culture.

Marking his first visit to Gujarat after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as the Home Minister and the new Member of Parliament for Gandhinagar, Shri Shah expressed his gratitude to the people of Gandhinagar for their support. He emphasized his commitment to making Gandhinagar the most developed parliamentary constituency, ensuring progress and development across all fields over the next five years.

Shri Amit Shah reminisced about the proposal made by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 to celebrate 21st June as International Yoga Day. He noted that this proposal received support from around 170 countries, and for the past decade, the world has been celebrating Yoga Day on 21st June, recognizing yoga as a significant contribution from Indian sages and saints.

He elaborated on the scientific methods introduced by sages to connect body, mind, and soul through yoga practices such as meditation, asanas, and pranayama. He praised Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for promoting yoga globally and stressed that yoga is the only medium to unlock the immense potential within our minds. Shri Shah also mentioned that the Gujarat government has made significant efforts to promote yoga by forming a dedicated board and incorporating yoga into the academic curriculum.
