Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday skipped Delhi University's Yoga Day event due to protests by students over alleged irregularities in NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams.

Scheduled to begin at 6 am, the event saw members of the Left-wing All India Students' Association (AISA) and other students protesting at the university's North Campus, carrying black flags.

AISA claimed the minister's absence was due to the protests. 'In response to the sheer audacity of Pradhan to even think of coming to DU while he and his NTA have jeopardised the future of students, AISA activists along with students of Delhi University raised black flags and protested against his presence in the university,' the association said.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams, was criticized for 'institutional failure.' Students stated the minister avoided the event out of fear of protests, labeling him as 'corrupt and arrogant.'

The protesters demanded Pradhan's resignation and the dismantling of NTA. Pradhan, in a press conference, took 'moral responsibility' for NTA's issues and announced the formation of a high-level committee to recommend reforms.
