President of Angola, João Lourenço has defended the strengthening of economic and trade cooperation between the States of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries in the country’s capital city, Luanda.

The information was conveyed by the Executive Secretary of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Francisco Ribeiro Telles, at the end of a meeting that was granted by the Angolan statesman.

The diplomat said he had heard the prospect of the Angolan presidency, that should start in 2020, in which Angola intends to promote greater involvement of the business community within the CPLP. He emphasized that just like it works well in the political-diplomatic conciliation, with leaders of member countries to be elected to high international positions, in the promotion and spreading of the Portuguese language in the world, the CPLP will become more involved in economic and commercial matters.

"Angola is very sensitive" to greater involvement in economic and trade issues and to bring business communities closer together, said Francisco Telles, who, among others, was once ambassador to Angola.

Ambassador Francisco Telles said he also addressed the issue of promoting mobility in member states as one of the priorities of the rotating presidency of Cape Verde that began in June and for a period of two years.
