The Delhi government has decided to extend its current excise policy for another three months, pending a decision on a new version. According to a circular, the validity of existing L-1, L-1F, and L-2 licensees will continue until June 30, 2025, at current pricing.
Licensees must pay an extension fee proportional to the three-month period from April 1 to June 30. Known as the 'old excise policy,' this system was initially implemented in September 2022 following the scrapping of a reformative plan amid irregularity allegations.
While a draft for a new policy is ready, it remains with government officials awaiting approval. Meanwhile, the current policy ensures regulation without disruption as the government explores future reforms.
