Commercial vehicle producer Ashok Leyland has announced significant developments concerning its UK subsidiary, Switch Mobility Ltd. The company's board has sanctioned consultations with employees over the potential shutdown of manufacturing and assembly operations at the Sherburn facility.
This decision comes amid ongoing economic uncertainties in the UK's bus manufacturing sector, which have impeded achieving production scale benefits. However, Switch Mobility has affirmed its commitment to the UK market by completing current orders and maintaining service support from its Rotherham and Thurrock locations.
In a separate statement, Ashok Leyland dispelled rumors about acquiring the promoter's stake in SML Isuzu, labeling such reports as false and inaccurate.
