Terror struck the Jaffar Express train in Balochistan on Tuesday as gunmen launched an attack, injuring several passengers. The train, carrying around 500 passengers, was en route from Quetta to Peshawar. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility, asserting that they derailed the train, resulting in armed clashes.
The incident happened between Gudalaar and Piru Koneri, where an intense gunfire exchange took place. The BLA warned of executing hostages if the Pakistan military initiated an operation. Local hospitals have declared an emergency to manage the casualties, and security forces are engaged in tracing the perpetrators.
The critical situation prompted the provincial government to call for immediate emergency measures. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has condemned the attack, highlighting the recurring issue of insurgency in the province, which threatens vital infrastructure like the railway and CPEC projects.
