The Export Inspection Council (EIC) is taking significant steps to enhance India's export capabilities by expanding its food testing infrastructure. A detailed study is being conducted to assess and bridge gaps in current facilities, with a plan expected in 2-3 months, according to Joint Secretary Nitin Kumar Yadav.

In an ambitious move, EIC is developing an integrated traceability system, incorporating advanced IoT-based sampling techniques to streamline export processes. New labs are opening across Ahmedabad, Faridabad, and Mangalore, while the council is pursuing mutual recognition agreements internationally to reduce transaction costs for Indian exporters.

The EIC's efforts have resulted in increased accreditation of 78 labs and a rise in approved export establishments to 1,446. With export certificates nearly doubling in the last decade, India is set to further solidify its commitment to international quality standards.
