The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is in the process of reviewing allegations against quick commerce companies for engaging in anti-competitive practices, including predatory pricing. The complaint was initially lodged by the All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation (AICPDF) and forwarded by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
Ravneet Kaur, CCI's Chairperson, stated that reminders have been sent to the informant for requisite information to assess any prima-facie violations of competition norms. Should such violations be found, the case will be escalated for detailed investigation by the CCI's Director General.
AICPDF president Darshil Patil has announced plans to submit a formal complaint against the quick commerce entities within the next fortnight. With the sector valued at approximately USD 5 billion, companies like Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy's Instamart are expanding rapidly, raising concerns over their impact on traditional retail outlets.
