Smoke Scare: Evacuation of BEST Electric Bus in Byculla

A leased electric bus operated by Mumbai's BEST was evacuated in Byculla after smoke was noticed from its battery. Passengers were safe, and the exact cause remains unknown. The incident occurred on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road, potentially due to a nearby under-construction bridge.

On Tuesday afternoon, a leased electric bus belonging to the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) was evacuated in Mumbai's Byculla area after smoke emanated from the bus's overhead battery.

The incident took place at approximately 1:15 PM on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road. The source of the smoke is still unknown, though a nearby under-construction bridge may have played a role.

All passengers were safely evacuated, and a fire engine promptly arrived at the scene. This bus, manufactured by Olectra, follows a previous incident involving another of its models in Kurla.
