In a significant move to enhance its industrial capabilities, Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. (HPL), a leading entity in India's petrochemical landscape, has formalized a license amendment with Lummus Technology. This agreement aims to expand HPL's phenol production capacity for their upcoming plant in Haldia, West Bengal, increasing output from 300 KTPA to 345 KTPA.

This expansion is part of HPL's ambitious growth agenda, reflecting a commitment to bolster India's chemicals industry. With an over INR 4,500 crore investment, the project will see a boost not just in phenol, but also in cumene and acetone production, aligning with rising domestic demand and supporting downstream chemical sector advancement.

Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Navanit Narayan, CEO of HPL, emphasized the strengthening of production capabilities and meeting market needs. Meanwhile, Dr. Romain Lemoine of Lummus Technology highlighted the innovation and progress this partnership brings to the petrochemical sector. The completion of this project is anticipated by Q1 2026.
