Haldia Petrochemicals Boosts Phenol Production Capacity
Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL) announced an agreement with Lummus Technology to increase its phenol production capacity from 300 KTPA to 345 KTPA. This expansion supports HPL's strategic growth within the chemicals industry, following a significant investment in West Bengal focused on meeting domestic demand for cumene and acetone.

Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL) has signed a license amendment with Lummus Technology, aiming to expand its phenol production capabilities. The agreement sees an increase in production from 300 kilotonnes per annum (KTPA) to 345 KTPA.
This move is part of HPL's broader growth strategy to support the chemicals industry in India. Aligning with greenfield investments worth over Rs 4,500 crore in West Bengal, HPL plans to address rising domestic demand for cumene and acetone to foster further downstream growth.
Navanit Narayan, the Wholetime director and CEO of HPL, stated that the collaboration with Lummus Technology enhances the company's capacity to meet India's expanding requirements for phenol and acetone.
