India and South Africa are set to commemorate the remarkable milestone of 30 years of diplomatic relations in 2024, underscored by a growing economic partnership. The bilateral trade between the two countries has remarkably exceeded pre-pandemic levels, reaching a significant USD 19 billion. To bolster these ties further, the newly inaugurated India-South Africa Chamber of Commerce (ISACC) is poised to play a pivotal role in enhancing economic relations by promoting trade and investment, encouraging business collaborations, and providing a platform for networking and knowledge exchange.

This initiative strongly emphasizes empowering youth and women, aiming to create robust participation opportunities in economic activities and entrepreneurship, particularly in the MSME sector. Parks Tau, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, highlighted at the chamber's inauguration that the cooperation framework established since 1993 has yielded numerous agreements, strengthening bilateral commercial relations and fostering economic growth. The collaboration with the private sector is seen as a vital step toward generating sustainable jobs and eradicating poverty through an inclusive economy.

Discussions among key stakeholders, including South Africa's Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber and India-South Africa Chamber of Commerce President Rahul Kaushik, underscored efforts to tackle visa challenges and deepen economic ties. The chamber is set to address the limited exposure South African businesses have with the Indian market, providing clarity and enabling bilateral business ventures. This platform will organize trade missions, industry-specific seminars, and mentorship programs for entrepreneurs. It will proactively advocate for business-friendly policies and offer market intelligence, all aimed at building confidence and fostering long-term partnerships.
