The Maharashtra Police Mega City (MPMC) project in Pune, which was stalled for over a decade, has gained new momentum thanks to a substantial Rs600 crore investment from the Dutch-based financial organization ATAL. The initiative, spearheaded by Ambar Ayade of Rural Enhancers and supported by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is set to complete the long-standing housing venture for police personnel.
Originally conceived in 2010 to provide homes for police officers in Pune's Lohegaon area, the project fell into stagnation in 2016 due to financial woes and legal issues. Many personnel had already invested Rs270 crores collectively, yet received nothing in return. The newly established foreign direct investment promises not only financial cover but also insurance backed by a government institution from the Netherlands.
The turn of events was marked by the signing of an indicative term sheet between ATAL Consulting BV and MPMC officials, in a ceremony attended by Bharat Kumar Rane, President of the Police Housing Society, and Anil Kuppa, India's head of operations at Atal Consulting. Through the dedication of involved parties, including the state FDI chief Kaustubh Dhawse, the project is poised to finally offer the promised housing units and commercial spaces.
