German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz is trailblazing a shift in vehicle retail by adopting the direct-to-consumer model, first implemented in India, across global markets. This strategic move has yielded a remarkable Rs 40,000 crore over three years, marking a new era in automotive retail.
Mercedes-Benz India recently unveiled the 'AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE' with F1 hybrid technology at Rs 1.95 crore as part of its expanding product range. The company plans to shift its existing 100 outlets to the new retail model within the next 12 to 18 months, reflecting this international strategy.
According to Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & CEO Santosh Iyer, the success of the Indian rollout has prompted similar implementations in countries such as Germany, the UK, and Thailand. The model eliminates dealership inventories, allowing partners to enhance service facilities. Amid this transformation, Mercedes targets a double-digit growth by closing 2024 with significant sales increases.
