India has experienced significant growth in intellectual property filings from 2018 to 2023, as indicated by data from the commerce and industry ministry. Patent and industrial design filings have doubled, while trademarks have surged by 60%.

The country now holds the sixth position globally, with 64,480 patent filings, primarily driven by resident innovation. Notably, more than half (55.2%) of these patent applications were submitted by Indian residents, showcasing a robust domestic innovation landscape.

Furthermore, India's intellectual property office stands as the second highest globally for trademark registrations, achieving 3.2 million registrations in 2023, fortifying its position in the global IP arena.
