A new report from global consulting powerhouse, Deloitte, unveils the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents in automating business processes. The report posits that AI agents can tackle complex use cases beyond the capabilities of traditional Generative AI (GenAI), especially in environments demanding secure and efficient deployment.

The study suggests that AI agents and multi-agent systems significantly enhance the quality of outputs compared to single AI agents alone. Pioneering businesses and government entities are leveraging these systems to boost enterprise productivity and streamline program delivery. AI agents can autonomously reason and act, enabling complex workflows previously deemed too difficult for GenAI.

The report distinguishes between GenAI and AI agents, highlighting limitations of typical Generative AI models, like language models (LLMs), in handling multistep prompts. AI agents, by contrast, are proficient in data interaction and autonomously performing tasks. The study also warns of biases inherent in AI algorithms and stresses the need for stringent security measures to protect against data breaches and cyber threats.
