Flipkart, a major player in e-commerce, reported a remarkable 7.2 billion visits to its platform between September 1 and October 28, 2024. This surge was sparked by a rise in premiumisation and personalised shopper preferences, particularly in metropolitan areas and Tier 2+ cities, according to a company statement.
The Eastern region of India experienced significant growth, with a 14.86% increase in unique visitors and a 12% rise in total customers compared to the previous year. This trend was seen across both Metro and Non-Metro regions, underscoring the nationwide demand for e-commerce services.
Flipkart's impact on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) was pronounced, as many sellers observed a 40-50% year-on-year growth. The demand for premium and mid-premium smartphones, particularly those with AI features, surged, with a 17% uptick in customers opting for top brands. Harsh Chaudhary, Head of Growth at Flipkart, emphasized this season's role in enhancing India's retail landscape and boosting economic growth.
