The Uttarakhand government has announced an increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees from 50% to 53%, effective from July 1, 2024. This adjustment applies to all regular and full-time state government employees as well as officials linked with the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The increased dearness allowance, retroactive from July, will result in arrears being paid in cash for the period until September 30, 2024. Starting October, the boosted allowance will be incorporated into the regular salary. However, this change does not automatically cover judges of the high court, chairpersons, and members of the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission, or certain other categories of employees; separate orders will be issued for them.
In addition to the allowance adjustment, the state government will pay an ad-hoc bonus for 2023-24 to non-gazetted employees of state-aided educational facilities, local bodies, district panchayats, and daily wage workers. Those eligible will receive a 30-day bonus capped at Rs 7,000, provided they were in service as of March 31, 2024, and had continuous service for at least six months. Employees involved in disciplinary proceedings or criminal cases are not eligible for this bonus.
