The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi has been restored to peak condition in preparation for the Indian Super League (ISL) match between Punjab FC and Chennaiyin FC on October 31, 2024. The arena will host the high-profile football match under strict readiness protocols, ensuring the turf meets all league standards.
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has addressed media concerns regarding the recent Diljit Dosanjh concert, clarifying that the stadium was booked until October 28, 2024, for post-concert cleaning. It emphasized that the organizers were responsible for returning the venue in its original condition, which has been completed satisfactorily.
SAI also reassured that no disruption to athlete training occurred, as no junior or senior athletic programs were scheduled during this off-season period. The venue primarily accommodates participants of the 'Come and Play' scheme, focusing on beginners, which remained unaffected by the event. Approximately 70,000 concertgoers attended the event over two days, but all cleanup measures are concluded.
