Boeing Workers Prolong Strike, Reject Latest Contract Offer
Boeing factory workers have rejected a contract offer, extending a five-week strike and dealing a significant setback to the negotiations. With 64% voting against the proposed four-year, 35% wage increase, the strike continues, impacting production of key Boeing models at West Coast factories.
Boeing's factory workers have decisively voted to reject the company's contract offer, opting to extend their strike, which has now passed the five-week mark.
In a significant setback for Boeing's management and shareholders, 64% of the workforce opposed the deal, which included a 35% wage increase over four years. This development reflects deep-seated worker dissatisfaction stretching back to negotiations a decade ago.
The continuation of the strike affects over 30,000 machinists, halting production lines for the 737 MAX, 767, and 777 models at Boeing's facilities on the West Coast since September 13.
