Bagdogra Airport Expansion: A New Era in Aviation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for the expansion of Bagdogra Airport, a Rs 1,550 crore project aimed at enhancing its capacity to handle international flights. The new terminal will accommodate more passengers while incorporating green technologies to reduce its ecological footprint.

In a significant infrastructural development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the expansion of Bagdogra Airport, situated near Siliguri in northern West Bengal. This expansion, estimated at Rs 1,550 crore, stands prominent among 23 other projects jointly valued at Rs 6,700 crore.
The upgrade of Bagdogra Airport, now sanctioned as a point-of-call airport, includes a new terminal building stretching across 70,390 sqm. This state-of-the-art infrastructure will manage 3,000 peak hour passengers and boasts an annual handling capacity of 10 million people, according to officials.
The project also features an apron accommodating 10 parking bays for A-321 aircraft, alongside multiple link taxiways and multilevel car parking. Emphasizing ecological responsibility, the terminal will utilize renewable energy and maximize natural light to minimize its environmental impact.
