Ratan Tata, who passed away last week, is being remembered for his profound humanity, warmth, and love for dogs, according to Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran. In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Chandrasekaran praised Tata's compassionate nature, underscoring his care not only for employees but also for the dogs at Bombay House, Tata's Mumbai headquarters.

Chandrasekaran noted, "Anyone who met Mr. Tata had a story about his humanity and warmth. Our relationship began focusing on business and evolved into a personal bond. We discussed various interests, from cars to hotels, and in daily life conversations, he revealed his keen observation and empathy."

Reflecting on a 2017 meeting with union leaders of Tata Motors after becoming chairman, Chandrasekaran recounted Tata's dedication to resolving workers' wage disputes, emphasizing employee welfare amidst company hardships. Across the Tata Group, Tata's concern for employees shaped leadership principles.

Chandrasekaran also shared a poignant anecdote about Bombay House's renovation in 2017, where Tata's main concern was for the stray dogs living there. Ratan Tata asked, "Where will the dogs go?" Chandrasekaran reassured him that a kennel would be built. Tata's joyous reaction to the completed kennel underscored his empathy and attention to detail.

Chandrasekaran admired Tata's remarkable memory, noting his ability to recall details about visited places and read books. His tribute concluded by reflecting on Tata's sharp mind and the deep void his absence leaves behind.
