Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a significant move to improve aerial connectivity, has launched a helicopter service connecting Dehradun and Almora. The initiative, a part of the UDAAN scheme, also saw the inauguration of a passenger terminal building at the Sahastradhara helipad.

Dhami further announced plans for additional routes, indicating that helicopter services would soon commence from Sahastradhara to destinations like Yamunotri, Gauchar, and Joshiyada under the 'Chief Minister Udan Khatola Scheme'.

The Dehradun-Almora heli service is expected to enhance tourism, stimulate the local economy, create job opportunities, and facilitate market access for products made by rural women. Almora, known for its rich heritage, features notable sites like Jageshwar Dham and Nanda Devi temple.
