Security Tensions: China and Pakistan on High Alert Amid SCO Summit

Pakistani authorities are imposing movement restrictions on Chinese citizens during the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, citing security threats from militant groups. The decision comes in the wake of the fatal bombing of two Chinese engineers near Karachi airport.

The SCO meeting, bringing together significant global players like China, India, and Russia, is slated for October 15-16 in Islamabad. An internal alert mandates that all Chinese movements, intra-city and inter-city, halt between October 14-17, aiming to prevent possible attacks during this period.

This restriction follows a pattern of attacks targeting Chinese nationals in Pakistan, attributed to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). In response, Beijing has demanded stronger security measures from Islamabad, highlighting China's significant financial investments in Pakistan.
