Indian Railways: Transforming Without Privatization

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw firmly stated that the Indian Railways is not considering privatization, focusing instead on offering affordable services to the public.
The minister announced an ambitious goal to achieve comfortable 1,000 km journeys for under Rs 400, alongside a comprehensive makeover of the railways within five years, featuring modern trains like Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat, and protective technology such as the Kavach system.
Vaishnaw revealed a rail budget of Rs 2.5 lakh crore, with significant network expansions outpacing countries like France. Plans are underway for state-specific projects, including major investments in Maharashtra and new connectivity initiatives, highlighting an era of transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration.
