The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is under fire after announcing plans to introduce air hostess-like attendants on its electric 'Shivneri' luxury buses between Mumbai and Pune. The decision, announced by new chairman Bharat Gogawale, aims to provide air travel-like hospitality on this busy 200-km route.

However, the move has been met with sharp criticism from the opposition. Vijay Wadettiwar, Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, lambasted the state government for neglecting fundamental issues such as the poor condition of state-run buses and inadequate facilities at bus stations.

In response, Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde defended the decision. He accused the previous MVA government of ill-treating MSRTC workers and argued that the current administration is creating jobs and modernizing the transport system.
