The new season of jaggery (gur) trading commenced in Muzaffarnagar, the largest gur market in India, on Tuesday. Arun Khandelwal, Chairman of the Federation of Gur Traders, confirmed to PTI that 100 quintals of jaggery arrived from different manufacturing units within the district.

Khandelwal highlighted that Tuesday marked the beginning of the new season with the first batch of 'gur' rolling in.

Muzaffarnagar's significance in India's jaggery market is noteworthy. The sugarcane-crushing season, which began in October, will continue through February in Uttar Pradesh, facilitating an increase in jaggery production.
