Air India Express Soars: AIX Connect Merger Fuels Ambitious Growth

The merger of AIX Connect with Air India Express marks a pivotal step in Air India's transformation. The merger of AIX Connect with Air India Express represents a significant milestone in Air India Group's transformation journey, announced Campbell Wilson, the group's Managing Director and CEO, on Tuesday.

Approved by aviation regulator DGCA, the merger will see the new entity, operating under the name 'Air India Express' and unified airline code 'IX,' focus on growth and transformation.

The merged airline will significantly expand its fleet and routes, exceeding 100 aircraft by the end of the financial year, up from its current 88, while increasing routes from 74 to 171 and boosting passenger carriage by over 400% since Tata Group's takeover in 2022.
