PNN Mohali (Punjab) [India], September 30: India Taekwondo has officially announced its team for the Chuncheon 2024 World Taekwondo Junior Championship. This prestigious event will feature top junior athletes from around the globe, serving as an essential platform for India's young talents to showcase their skills on an international stage.

The official team declaration followed a rigorous selection process, meeting high international competition standards. Comprising 20 promising athletes—both male and female—the team will be supported by an experienced coaching and support staff. An intensive training camp at Chandigarh University, Mohali, organized by India Taekwondo in collaboration with the university, prepared the athletes. The camp focused on enhancing fitness, technique, and mental toughness under the guidance of seasoned coaches.

In a historic move, India Taekwondo introduced the use of rolling mats at the recent Champions of Champions tournament in Nashik, which saw the participation of 1,200 athletes. This innovation added historical significance to the event, where ten matches were held simultaneously. Namdev Shirgaonkar, President of India Taekwondo, emphasized the benefits of this innovation for the sport's development.

Namdev Shirgaonkar expressed his confidence in the team's capabilities, underscoring the pivotal role of the training camp: "The training camp at Chandigarh University, Mohali, was crucial for our preparation for the Chuncheon 2024 World Taekwondo Junior Championship. It allowed our young athletes to fine-tune their skills and build team spirit under expert guidance. I am certain this team will make the nation proud. Our aim is to nurture talent and provide world-class training facilities, and I extend my best wishes to the team for their success in the championship." India Taekwondo remains committed to developing and promoting Taekwondo nationally, offering continuous support to help athletes achieve their goals. The Chuncheon 2024 World Taekwondo Junior Championship represents another significant milestone in Indian Taekwondo's expanding international footprint.
