In an unforeseen twist, a bullion trader named Mehul Thakkar was deceived out of 2.1 kgs of gold by unidentified con men who handed him counterfeit currency notes featuring actor Anupam Kher.

The con, which left local trader Mehul Thakkar empty-handed, involved 26 bundles of fake Rs 500 notes. Thakkar lodged a complaint at the Navrangpura police station, explaining how he was tricked into accepting the fake currency.

The counterfeit currency, hilariously labeled 'Resole Bank of India,' was given in exchange for the gold on September 24. Thakkar received a call from Prashant Patel, the manager of a well-known jewelry shop, who was interested in purchasing 2.1 kgs of gold for Rs 1.60 crore. Tragically for Thakkar, the transaction turned out to be a real-life comedy. The police have now filed an FIR and are on the lookout for the criminals.
