In its ongoing commitment to unlock Africa’s energy market potential, CLG, a pan-African legal, tax, and business advisory conglomerate, has announced its participation as a platinum sponsor in the 2024 edition of African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energy, set to take place from November 4-8 in Cape Town. CLG will contribute to high-level panel discussions, workshops, and project showcases during the event, spotlighting lucrative opportunities across Africa’s energy value chain.

With a strong foothold in both regional and international markets, CLG has become a trusted partner for global investors seeking opportunities in Africa’s energy sector. Known for facilitating deals between African stakeholders and international investors, the firm will play a central role in deal signing and negotiations at AEW 2024, reinforcing the shared goal of ending energy poverty in Africa by 2030.

CLG's reputation for supporting strategic projects across the continent is evident in its recent deals. In May 2024, CLG successfully brokered a deal between Africa + Rain Cage Ltd., a cleantech subsidiary of Rain Cage Carbon, and Nigeria’s Sapele Power to decarbonize the Sapele Thermal Power Plant, boosting power output by 1,000 MW. Similarly, in December 2023, CLG assisted Oranto Petroleum Limited in renewing its oil exploration license in Uganda, unlocking further investments in the country’s oil and gas sector.

As Africa’s energy landscape undergoes significant regulatory reforms, CLG remains a key player in providing guidance to investors. Several African nations, including Nigeria, Zanzibar, Tanzania, and Angola, are launching licensing rounds to increase exploration and production. CLG will offer strategic support for companies interested in these opportunities, with further insights expected to be shared at AEW 2024.

Additionally, CLG continues to shape investor strategies by publishing key reports and whitepapers on regulatory changes across Africa. In September 2024, the firm released a report on Namibia’s emerging oil and gas sector, coinciding with the country’s new fiscal reforms aimed at increasing local participation in energy projects. Similar reports were published on Nigeria and the Republic of Congo, guiding global stakeholders on the evolving legal landscape in Africa’s energy markets.

NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, emphasized CLG’s pivotal role, stating, “Africa is taking bold strides to revitalize its investment landscape by reforming laws and regulations. CLG has positioned itself as a reliable facilitator of deals between African stakeholders and global investors, fast-tracking the flow of investments and expediting project rollout.”

As Africa continues to attract global interest with its energy sector reforms, CLG’s involvement at AEW 2024 underscores its position as a key enabler of Africa’s energy market expansion, supporting both local and international investment efforts.
