Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his US visit, underscored India's rising profile as a hub for global technology and innovation. Speaking to CEOs from top tech firms in New York on Sunday, Modi outlined the country's progress in semiconductors, electronics, and workforce development, reiterating India's ambition to be a major player in the global economy.

Modi emphasized the focus on 'Design in India,' announcing an additional USD 15 million investment in the semiconductor sector. He noted, 'India already commands a 20% share in semiconductor design and has launched a 'Design in India' campaign across sectors.'

The Prime Minister also discussed a newly established USD 12 billion research fund aimed at fostering high-end research and innovation. Highlighting the booming electronics sector, valued at over USD 150 billion, Modi set a target to elevate this to USD 500 billion by 2030 to create 6 million jobs.

He reaffirmed India's potential to be a reliable partner in the global semiconductor supply chain, citing a workforce exceeding 500 million and a youthful average age of 28. 'Our youth are increasingly pursuing STEM education, with notable participation from girls,' Modi added.

Addressing Industry 4.0, Modi spoke of training 85,000 technicians and engineers within the next two years to meet industry needs. 'We're developing an ecosystem to provide industry-aligned skills,' he said.

Modi also lauded India's dynamic digital ecosystem, asserting that the country has the largest pool of young talent and the third-largest startup environment globally.
