Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif credited a group of 'friendly countries', including China, for facilitating a possible USD million IMF loan approval, expected later this month.

Speaking in Islamabad to young parliamentarians from his Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, Sharif praised Army chief Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for their roles in securing the loan. He mentioned that the IMF's board meeting is slated for September 25 for final approval.

Sharif thanked Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and China for their pivotal contributions, and expressed a desire for this to be Pakistan's final IMF programme. He stressed the urgency of tax reforms, criticizing tax evasion by the elite, and emphasized that collective national efforts are essential for Pakistan's self-reliance and financial independence.
