Government Boosts E-Commerce with New Export Incentives

The government has rolled out new incentives to boost e-commerce exports through the courier medium, aiming to enhance trade efficiency and growth, a move discussed in the latest Board of Trade (BoT) meeting in Mumbai.
According to officials from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), effective immediately, RoDTEP, RoSCTL, and drawback benefits will now encompass exports made via courier. The commerce ministry indicated future plans to extend these benefits to postal route exports, promoting fairness for e-commerce exporters using courier and postal channels.
The Board reviewed a number of export facilitation measures, including the introduction of two new online portals by the Ministry of Commerce and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) to ease the doing business, marking a significant leap towards paperless processes and enhanced service delivery. Discussions also covered areas like quality farming, mutual recognition agreements, and free trade agreements aimed at bolstering India's trade ecosystem.
