Unraveling Safety: Enhancing Surveillance in Delhi Metro Network

This announcement from DMRC arrives shortly after the Delhi Police urged the urban transporter to implement measures to avert security breaches and potential suicides on its premises.

'DMRC is one of the safest means of travel in Delhi-NCR with over 14,600 CCTVs and policing by notified police stations under Delhi Metro rail police jurisdiction across all its lines,' the DMRC declared. 'Existing dark spots will be identified and covered, with many new CCTVs already installed in previous efforts,' it added. The statement also mentioned an ongoing survey report from Delhi Police, which is being analyzed for feasibility. A joint timetable for proposal implementation will be developed, and the DMRC will work closely with the Delhi Police to ensure passenger safety. Notably, the letter from the police highlighted the need for monitoring railway tracks, improving lighting, trimming trees at metro boundaries, increasing guards, and installing platform screen doors. The letter also referenced two cases of mysterious graffiti on train coaches in March and April.
