Apple's latest iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are now being produced and launched globally from Indian factories. This milestone, highlighted by Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, underscores the success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' initiative in driving the creation of iconic products.

This marks the first time Apple has assembled its high-end iPhone models outside China, signaling a significant shift in its global production strategy. 'Apple's latest iPhone 16 being produced and launched globally from Indian factories,' Vaishnaw tweeted, emphasizing India's growing role in Apple's ecosystem.

The move highlights Apple's strategic efforts to diversify its manufacturing base and increase global supply chain resilience. Reports from GSM Arena indicate that Apple's decision to produce iPhone 16 Pro models in India aligns with a broader trend of companies reducing dependence on single countries for manufacturing.

Over the past seven years, Apple has gradually increased its production in India. This growth is set to boost India's share of Apple's total iPhone production to 25% by next year, up from 14% earlier this year. Future plans include starting production of the iPhone 17 exclusively in India.

By diversifying its production strategy, Apple aims to mitigate risks related to geopolitical tensions and supply chain uncertainties.
