In a written address to SIAM's annual convention, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the automobile sector's critical role in exemplifying rapid yet sustainable growth. Modi asserted that the industry will be a major driver of economic development and growth in demand.

The 64th Annual Convention of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) focused on 'Sustainable Mobility Journey towards Viksit Bharat.' This event saw industry leaders and policymakers discussing sustainable mobility's vital role in achieving the Viksit Bharat 2047 objectives. 'Our progress must be rapid and sustainable, with greener mobility being a necessary step,' Modi emphasized in a special message.

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, the chief guest, discussed the government's vision and initiatives for sustainable transportation. 'The automobile industry is key to the Prime Minister's vision of transforming India into a $5 trillion economy and a global leader in auto manufacturing. Our aim is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2070 through innovation and sustainable practices,' Gadkari stated. Vinod Aggarwal, SIAM President, stressed the sector's role in sustainable growth, noting a significant GDP contribution and turnover growth. He mentioned initiatives like the FAME program, which have boosted EV sales by 90%, steering India towards greener mobility.
