The Indian government is actively considering requests for enhanced bilateral flying rights but aims to prioritize the promotion of domestic airlines and the development of global aviation hubs within the country, stated Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Monday.

His comments follow expressions of interest from foreign carriers, particularly from the UAE, asking for rights to operate additional flights to India, one of the fastest-growing civil aviation markets globally.

"We are proactively looking at bilaterals, but we also want to promote Indian airlines because we want to create our own aviation hubs," Naidu mentioned during a press briefing.
