French retail giant Carrefour is making a significant comeback to the Indian market in partnership with Dubai-based Apparel Group. The move comes after a decade-long hiatus, with plans to introduce Carrefour's exclusive brands initially in North India and then expand nationwide by 2025.
The collaboration between Carrefour and Apparel Group, a leading retail and lifestyle company, marks a strategic entry into one of the world's fastest-growing economies. The first stores are slated to open in the NCR Region by the summer of 2025, as per a joint statement from both companies.
Carrefour had previously exited India in 2014, citing business challenges and the difficulty in finding a local partner. This new alliance aims to overcome those hurdles. India is now a key part of Carrefour's International Partnership 2026 development plan, which aims to expand into over 10 new countries by 2026.
