Tragic School Bus Collision in Raichur: Two Students Dead, Three Critically Injured

Two school students lost their lives and three were critically injured in a devastating head-on collision involving a school bus and a government bus at Kapagal, Raichur district, on Thursday. The accident occurred while the bus, carrying 42 students, was en route to a private school.
''Two have died, three sustained critical injuries, and several others have sustained serious injuries. The injured are receiving treatment at a nearby hospital,'' a police officer informed PTI. Sources revealed that some children lost their limbs in the accident. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah extended his condolences to the bereaved families, promising free medical care for the injured and compensation for the deceased students' families.
Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries, H D Kumaraswamy, also expressed his deep sorrow, noting the serious injuries and limb losses among the children. He urged the state government to ensure free treatment and immediate relief. Emphasizing the importance of road safety, Kumaraswamy remarked, ''Negligence in following road safety rules and drivers' carelessness are leading to such tragedies. Everyone should follow traffic rules compulsorily.'' Police sources cited a pothole as the cause of the accident and indicated that they would register a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the bus drivers.
