On the occasion of Teacher's Day, Alakh Pandey, founder and CEO of Physics Wallah, urged the government to lower the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the education sector and called for edtech companies to function as non-profit organizations, following China's example.

In an exclusive interview with ANI, Pandey highlighted the inadequate government spending on education, noting the current allocation of 3-3.5% of GDP is insufficient when compared to developed nations. He pointed out that India imposes an 18% GST on education, considerably higher than China's 6%.

Pandey emphasized the need for proper implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) and highlighted the challenges, including a shortage of qualified teachers due to inadequate pay. He also advised aspiring teachers to prioritize education quality and focus on enhancing each student's potential.
