In a major development for Kerala's logistics sector, the state government on Wednesday sanctioned the Logistics Park Policy, enabling the creation of both large-scale and mini-logistics parks via private investment and public-private partnerships.

Under the policy, as approved by the Cabinet led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, large-scale logistic hubs can be set up on a minimum of 10 acres of land, featuring essential infrastructure such as cargo handling and inter-modal transfer facilities. Mini-logistics parks will require five acres.

Moreover, a single-window clearance system will streamline the process for setting up these logistics parks. Offering a capital subsidy of up to Rs 7 crore for large parks and Rs 3 crore for mini-parks, the policy also exempts stamp duty and registration fees, encouraging private and joint ventures. The policy supports Kerala's extensive transport infrastructure, aiming to attract foreign investment and generate employment.
