Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Wednesday heralded the introduction of the government's app-based premium bus aggregator scheme, calling it a 'giant leap towards a pollution-free Delhi.' The scheme aims to cut down on private vehicle usage and reduce pollution by introducing zero-emission electric buses across the capital.
Gahlot inspected the initial batch of buses deployed by Uber at the Rajghat Depot. 'I inspected the first lot of Premium Buses under the Delhi Premium Bus Aggregator Scheme. We're making significant strides towards a pollution-free Delhi with these zero-emission, electric buses,' he posted on X.
The scheme allows licensed aggregators to set bus routes and fares, with prices dynamically determined but not lower than the peak fare of Delhi Transport Corporation AC buses. Only pre-booked digital ticketing will be available, aiming to attract middle and upper-middle-class commuters to opt for public transportation.
