Metro Railway in Kolkata has hit a significant milestone, earning over Rs. 1.33 crore from passengers on September 2. This is the highest passenger earnings recorded in the last 13 years, according to the authorities' statement on Tuesday.

This record-setting day is only surpassed by the earnings of Rs. 1.47 crore on a single day back on August 1, 2011, marking it the second highest in the history of Kolkata Metro's daily earnings.

The Kolkata Metro, which began operations in 1984, saw approximately 7.5 lakh passengers on September 2, traveling across various lines including the Blue Line, Green Line-1, Green Line-2, Purple Line, and Orange Line. Out of these, more than 6.3 lakh passengers traveled on the Blue Line alone, while around 56,000 used Green Line-2, and about 51,500 traveled on Green Line-1. Metro Railway General Manager P. Uday Kumar Reddy expressed gratitude towards the people of Kolkata and surrounding districts for choosing Kolkata Metro as their preferred mode of transportation.
