Satish Kumar Appointed as Chairman and CEO of Railway Board
Satish Kumar has been appointed as the Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, succeeding Jaya Varma Sinha. An IRSME officer from the 1986 batch, Kumar has significantly contributed to Indian Railways for over 34 years. His academic qualifications include a B.Tech from MNIT, Jaipur, and a Post Graduate Diploma from IGNOU.

In a significant move, Satish Kumar has taken over as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board, according to a statement from the Railway Ministry released on Sunday.
Kumar succeeds Jaya Varma Sinha, who retired on August 31, 2024. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet had priorly endorsed his appointment.
An officer of the 1986 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), Kumar has been pivotal in the progress of Indian Railways over his 34-year career. His academic accolades include a B.Tech in mechanical engineering from MNIT, Jaipur, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Operation Management and Cyber Law from IGNOU.
Starting his career in March 1988, Kumar has held essential roles across various railway zones and divisions, noted for his innovative contributions to safety and efficiency.
