The Railway Ministry has sanctioned a crucial final location survey for the long-awaited Nashik-Dahanu new railway line, an official announced on Friday.

Spanning 100 kilometres, the line will traverse through Trimbakeshwar and Vangaon, connecting Nashik and Dahanu in Palghar districts. This infrastructure upgrade is poised to slash travel time and bolster connectivity between these vital locations, according to a Central Railway spokesperson.

The current routes via Kalyan-Bhiwandi-Vasai or Dhule-Nandurbar-Surat are circuitous and time-consuming. The new link promises to reduce both travel time and distance, enhancing tourism and offering easier rail access to the Trimbakeshwar temple, home to one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, and Panchavati in Nashik, significant for its connection to Lord Ram's exile.

Furthermore, the line will facilitate connectivity from the Deccan plateau to the Vadhvan port in Dahanu, for which the foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Officials noted that the new route would link multiple towns in Nashik and Palghar, promoting economic growth and regional development. The ministry has allocated Rs. 2.50 crore for the final location survey.
